The Elixir of Love

The action takes place in a village in Italy, late eighteenth century. Nemorino, a young and naive melancholic, in love with Adina conveys indifference that only excites the jealousy of the boy. Desperate, Nemorino buys the mysterious elixir that sells Dr. Dulcamara, a quack impostor that ensures you have to wake up an uncontrollable passion in the girl. It is, indeed, Bordeaux. This still irritates most Adina, announces that despite his imminent marriage Belcore, a sergeant who has come to the county with his regiment.
Nemorino, desperate, asks Dulcamara a new miracle elixir dose just decided to Adina. But no money and enlists in the army as a soldier. The village women learn that Nemorino has inherited a large fortune and chase him, to which the young man attributed to the miraculous efficacy of the elixir. Adina, Nemorino to learn that a soldier has been done to get money to buy the elixir, is touched by the loyalty and passion of youth. Adina, breaks their engagement with Nemorino. Belcore, his pride wounded, replies that is within reach of every woman who wants. Dulcamara declares that the whole situation is due to his prodigious magic potion. Fascinated by the result, everyone runs to buy bottles of "elixir of love"
